Ministry of Social Development and Family Launches "Digitally Aware Family" Campaign

Khalifa bin Issa Al Kubaisi

Doha, Qatar : The Ministry of Social Development and Family launched the national "Digitally Aware Family" campaign on Sunday under the slogan "Their Protection, Your Responsibility," with the participation of 20 national entities.

Campaign Aims to Boost Digital Safety Awareness

The initiative aims to enhance digital safety awareness, empower families to protect their children, and promote the safe, balanced, and responsible use of modern technology while mitigating online risks.

Part of Ministry's 2025-2030 National Strategy

The campaign forms part of the Ministry's National Strategy for 2025-2030, themed "From Care to Empowerment," which seeks to strengthen family stability and cohesion, support adaptation to rapid technological shifts, and advance the human and social development pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Undersecretary Highlights Family's Role as First Line of Defense

HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Khalifa bin Issa Al Kubaisi said the campaign reflects Qatar's commitment to helping families navigate digital transformation with confidence and responsibility. He noted that digital safety has evolved from a purely technical matter into a societal and family priority, directly affecting child-rearing, mental health, privacy protection, and domestic stability.

Al Kubaisi added that with digital platforms deeply embedded in daily life, online experiences inevitably shape children's behavior, values, and well-being — underscoring the role of every family as the first line of defense in instilling Qatari societal values and national identity.

Awareness and Dialogue Prioritized Over Restriction

He noted that effective protection relies on active awareness, ongoing family dialogue, and balanced digital habits, rather than total restriction alone, allowing young people to manage risks safely and seek help when needed.

Digital Safety Committee Coordinates National Effort

The campaign operates under the Digital Safety Committee for Children and Youth, which brings together relevant national entities to evaluate digital security trends, recommend policies and awareness initiatives, and coordinate institutional actions, legislation, and technical support to ensure a safe digital environment across Qatar.

Three Core Objectives Guide the Campaign

The initiative targets children, parents, social and psychological specialists, content creators, and family welfare organizations, with three main objectives: raising awareness among children and parents about digital risks and prevention methods; instilling safe and responsible behavior when using the internet, social media, games, and digital applications; and unifying national efforts to ensure consistent, impactful awareness messaging.

The campaign delivers on these objectives through three interconnected phases: Risk Awareness, Practical Protection, and Responsibility & Reporting.

New eSafety Portal Launched Alongside Campaign

Coinciding with the campaign's launch, the Ministry introduced the official eSafety portal (www.esafety.qa), a unified digital platform offering the public immediate access to educational guides, awareness materials, useful links, and digital content. The Ministry called on all families and community stakeholders to engage with the campaign and use the portal's resources to embed digital safety into everyday practice.
